"The DANGERS of a PASSIVE MIND!"

It has often been said, "An idle MIND is the Devil's workshop." Whoever came up with this statement was no doubt under the influence of the enemy and most likely experiencing severe pressure to commit various acts of sin. After all, the "passive mind" is a safe haven and five-star destination for the manipulators of God's Word.

In my study and investigation of the anatomy of the mind, I have come to the following conclusion that the various "states of mind" we maintain are some of the causes for the attacks of the enemy (evil thoughts , evil spirits and evil deeds) on the mental, physical and spiritual health of Believers.

Below I have delineated several states of mind and the inherent dangers attributed to those states:

  1. An "Unrenewed Mind": is the "flesh" (the flesh is more mental than physical). Rather, it is more what you think, then who or what you are (flesh = sinful nature);
  2. An "Improper Mind": this includes ALL SIN which feeds the frenzy of the operation of evil spirits which leads to confusion, carnality and chaos;
  3. "Misunderstanding God's Truth": manipulation of the Word of God by wicked, lazy and immature teachers gives ground to nefarious spirits and their devices to create fear, doubt and hopelessness in the mind of the Believer;
  4. "Accepting Suggestions":  or evil ideas planted in the minds of Believers causes major disruptions in the life of immature Christians. Specifically, ideas concerning their circumstances (mostly financial, material and sexual) and future expectations of receiving blessings. This includes false prophecy, fortune telling, tarot readings, etc. The Believer must reject the thoughts and ideas of the enemy and recognize that these thoughts or suggestions are NOT from the Holy Spirit;
  5. A "Blank Mind": An "active" mind is the best defense to the works of the spirit of perdition. They attempt to empty the mind of the Believer of holy and fervent Kingdom thoughts, reasoning and intellect so that they can occupy and manipulate him. A blank mind is incapable of discerning the power, presence and protection of the Holy Spirit as well as perceiving or recognizing the works of the enemy; and,
  6. A "Passive Mind": is a mind that is awaiting some external force to activate it. Passivity reduces a man to a robotic state. It affords the enemy access to both the "will" and the "body" of the Believer. In this state of mind, there is absolutely no sensitivity to the power of the Spirit of God and therefore the Believer is totally vulnerable to the workings of satanic powers and influences.

Some final thoughts: Guard your heart and mind as you enter and exit intimacy with the Lord God in your Secret Place.
  • Understand that prayer, in and of itself, will NOT transform our thoughts into godly ones. We must become active participants in the development of our"spiritual thought lives;"
  • Waiting for for divine thoughts to infiltrate our minds during and after prayer only invites counterfeit spirits into your presence; the operative word here is "waiting." Again, Believers must be active participants in the maturation of their thought lives and the best way to strengthen and protect yourself is by immersing yourself in the Word of God; and,
  • God's leading for all Believers is predicated on the intuition of the Holy Spirit and NOT in the mind and soul of the Believer.
